Description
A company in Monroe is seeking a Certified Mechanic for their public services department. Position is responsible for the diagnosis, preventative maintenance, and corrective repair of the equipment fleet, including passenger vehicles, police patrol cars, light and heavy-duty trucks, heavy and specialized equipment, small power equipment and tools. When directed by supervisory personnel, coordinates with private maintenance facilities for specialty work or as otherwise needed. This is a possible long term opportunity to be hired onto the union. 1st shift position pay is based on experience.

Requirements
During Winter operations and other emergency operations periods, is expected to utilize available skills for general Departmental benefit, performing other tasks at lower classifications, including operation of various equipment and other general labor tasks typically assigned to other departmental classifications. Employee is required to maintain Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and State certification in auto and truck mechanics at all times. Position is expected to perform with limited day-to-day supervision, relying on supervision for prioritization of lengthy repair activities but directly handling and completing minor repair activities and "drop-in" type repairs such as fluid level corrections, bulb changes and the like in accordance with departmental policies. Must be able to pass a DS and clean criminal background. Pay is $15-17 an hour.
